When you first start AutoCAD, the default template has only one linetype is available. If this doesn’t work, set the Viewres system variable to a higher value. It should be set to your drawing scale factor. If you change the linetype of a layer or an object but the object remains a continuous line, check the Ltscale system variable. Setting the PSLTSCALE system variable allows to maintain the same linetype scaling for objects displayed at different zoom factors in a layout and in a layout viewport. When a drawing is viewed in a layout the lines are displayed relative to the viewport scaling factor. A line created with CELTSCALE = 2 in a drawing with LTSCALE set to 0.5 would appear the same as a line created with CELTSCALE = 1 in a drawing with LTSCALE = 1. Sets the linetype scaling for new objects relative to the LTSCALE command setting. The Continuous linetype displays objects with a solid, unbroken pattern. You can see which linetype is current in the Properties panel of the ribbon Home tab when no objects are selected. Do one of the following: Choose Enabled to display the linetype without regard to the polyline segments. In the Properties palette, click Linetype Generation, and then click the down arrow.
